Dr. Lanika Buchanan is the founding doctor of Health Moves which was originally developed with her
husband Andrew Max as a mobile clinic serving businesses on the Eastside. In 2002 Health Moves found
a permanent home in Woodinville and has recently grown into a beautiful new location directly across from Woodinville City
Hall.

Dr. Buchanan was born in Australia and sailed for 2 years in the Great Barrier Reef on a 22 ft sailboat
before traveling throughout Southeast Asia, Nepal and India with her mother, all before the age of eight.
She then settled in Big Sur, California in a rustic area without electricity, telephone or paved roads. After
graduating from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a BA in Cultural and Medical
Anthropology she again travelled around the world, adding Europe to her list of over 25 countries. Upon
her return, with extreme determination, she completed a doctorate in naturopathic medicine
concurrently with a masters of science degree in acupuncture from Bastyr University.
She is a guest lecturer for Bastyr University and Evergreen Hospital as well as a consultant on corporate wellness programs throughout Puget Sound.
She is an active member of professional organizations including the American Association of
Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), The Washington Association for Naturopathic Physicians (WANP), and
the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and the
Washington Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Association (WAOMA).
